High-risk pregnancy care

Specialist follow-up when you or your baby need extra monitoring.

What it is

Some pregnancies need closer care because of the mother's health, a problem in a previous pregnancy, or a concern about the baby. Our maternal-fetal medicine team plans and coordinates this care.

Who it's for

Women with high blood pressure, diabetes, heart or kidney disease, twins, previous stillbirth or preterm birth, previous cesarean sections, or a baby with a growth or development concern.

What to expect

  • A personalised plan for visits and tests
  • Detailed ultrasound and fetal monitoring
  • Coordination with physicians, anesthetists and the neonatal team
  • Planning the safest time and way to give birth

Common questions

Does 'high-risk' mean something will go wrong?
No. It means you benefit from closer follow-up. Most women with high-risk pregnancies have healthy babies.
